Sandwich Design LED Light Engine Solutions
Brillia Sandwich Design Light Engines allow a simple one-piece approach to LED integration. Utilizing only one wiring connection, and using screws as mechanical and electrical attachments to the LED driver (power supply), the sandwich designs simply need a heat sink plate and a luminaire is quickly to market with LED sources.
LED modules MUST be mounted to a flat metal heat sink surface, sandwiched between modules and driver.
- Recommended heat sink plate is aluminum, 0.080” thick.
- Bushings are required on driver side and are available from Permlight (PC61-0002) or McMaster Carr (91145A129).
- Proper torque should be used for screws, no lock washers as these will damage board.
- LED Modules make electrical and mechanical connections to the driver with the screws.
- Driver is typically located in housing of luminaire, behind the heat sink plate.
- After the engine is installed in the luminaire, it should be tested in-situ operation, and the Ts and TMP points measured with thermocouples to ensure datasheet maximums are not exceeded.
- Ambient conditions of the housing, especially the driver mounting compartment should be tested for maximums.
